Emma is a registered architect and Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Design.

Emma has practiced for 10 years for award-winning design practices; Lyons, ARM architecture, and John Wardle Architects. She has taught into the Master of Architecture at RMIT as a sessional lecturer throughout this time and is now engaged full time as a Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Design and Program Manager of the Master of Urban Design.

Emma received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Western Australia and is currently a PhD candidate in RMIT’s practice-based research PhD (Architecture and Design). The focus of this research is to visualise alternative realities for cities earmarked for extreme growth.

This research is tested in the masters level design studios; the Welcome Stranger and The Strange series of studios. Over the last three years these studios have been based in various locations; in the North West of Australia as part of the WA State Government’s Royalties for Regions scheme, in rural NSW as part of the Consolidated Land and Rail Australia (CLARA) research consortium that is projecting eight cities along the proposed rail corridor between Melbourne and Sydney, and in Malaysia as part of the Malaysia Biennial 100 Year City: Medini Project.
