Leah Heiss is a Lecturer and a Melbourne based artist and designer.
Leah has an extensive knowledge of next-generation materials and processes and an arts practice approach to the making of work, particularly an emphasis on communicating work through exhibition and discussion in the public realm.
Her current work investigates the positive impact of bringing design into the therapeutic development process at an earlier stage. Her body of work includes technology augmented jewellery, garments and devices. Diabetes Jewellery, which she developed in collaboration with Nanotechnology Victoria, received wide media exposure across the US, Canada and Europe; and on Australian television, radio, and in print. iHear You developed with Blamey Saunders Hears won the Good Design Award for Social Innovation
